Product Description

A succession of pet Dalmatians—all named Leopold—were Bawa’s constant companions, often accompanying him to Lunuganga in the back of his Rolls-Royce and later his Toyota Double Cab. His deep affection for his dogs was reflected in their prominent presence at No. 11, his Colombo home and the heart of his social and professional life. At the corner of the entry corridor, Leopold had a dedicated perch—a stone platform topped with a batik cushion designed by Ena de Silva.

Phantom Hands’ re-edition of this distinctive piece is a lightweight, movable version crafted from stone aggregate. The cushion is made using black and white batik fabric sourced from the Aluvihare Heritage Center, founded by Ena de Silva, and produced by the same team of artisans who originally created the cushion covers for Bawa.

The Leopold Seat is perfect for contemporary homes and apartments, as a movable seat for humans or even as a special perch for the family pet.
