Product Description
This wide and comfortable white sofa, with upholstery and cushions made with fabrics from Barefoot, was designed for the first-floor guest suite at Bawa’s Colombo home at No. 11, 33rd lane. The shape of the sofa and the design of its legs are different from the sofa of similar proportions seen on the ground floor at No. 11.
The Phantom Hands’ re-edition is true to the dimensions and proportions of the first-floor sofa at No. 11. The fabrics for the upholstery and cushions are sourced from Barefoot, and were kept unbleached at Phantom Hands’ request, to give the sofas the look of the aged fabric seen at No. 11. The handloom fabrics from Barefoot were enhanced with a knit backing to give them more weight and robustness—qualities essential in contemporary upholstery.

We offer this piece in three finishes: Natural Teak and Dark Stain as standard finishes, and Y4 Light Walnut as a premium finish.
All three finishes begin with hand-sanding the wood with progressively finer grits of sandpaper. The Natural Teak is then finished with a hard wax oil that brings out the wood's golden-brown colour. The Dark Stain and Y4 Light Walnut, with the latter being a proprietary shade, both receive a waterborne stain, followed by three coats of compatibility-tested hydro-oil.
