Tangāli Collection
Having seen the level of skill and dexterity of our cane weavers during their first visit in 2017, INODA+SVEJE pushed our weavers to make patterns that are not traditional to Indian furniture that is now the signature style of the Tangāli Collection. The Tangāli weave is testament to how traditional crafts adapt to contemporary design. Designer Nils Sveje reminisces about the collaborative process of creating this weave in 2018 in this video.
Tangāli means cool breeze in Kannada language (spoken locally in Bangalore where the Phantom Hands workshop is based). We decided to name the collection after the cool monsoon breeze that accompanied INODA+SVEJE's visit to Bangalore.
