Many towns and villages in Burma are renowned for their cane handicrafts, especially basket weaving. Burma (Myanmar) is also one of the foremost cane (rattan) growing regions of the world. Since colonial times, Burmese cane baskets have made their way to India and were used as picnic baskets, linen baskets and general storage baskets.

Description
A beautiful Rattan hand woven basket, with a flap-open cover and sliding cane latch to secure the covers. The basket has beautiful cane handles and was most likely used as a picnic basket in Colonial times.

Burma (Myanmar) and sourced from a collector in South India.

Excellent condition with no damage.
